It’s the final leg of my tour! Welcome to Call It With Conroy, where I call the action in the ring! I’m Mickey Conroy and I finally made it to Los Angeles! Much nicer weather than Iowa, and a much higher production value event with SAW, San Andreas Wrestling! SAW is definitely a bit unusual. Very big on angles as opposed to matches, and a lot of angles are shot off site, so the fans in attendance are mostly watching a small Jumbotron. Works well for the at home audience though!

The show kicked off with a recap, showing Joslyn Sky had kicked Keira Ryan out of her TikTok house a few weeks ago because she wasn’t helping with her view count. Keira apparently got revenge by slashing Joslyn’s tires, and Joslyn finally agreed to defend her SAW Women’s Championship tonight. So we have that to look forward to!

Still have yet to see a wrestler in person, as we now see a conversation taking place between The American Originals, Brantley Simon and HAW alumni Vernon Walters, threatening Alex Turner with “something.” Finally, The American Originals come out for a tag match, and their opponents are the previously mentioned Alex Turner, and his best friend Cesar Nelson, known for a one off jobber experience in HAW. The match showed a decent work rate but Alex seemed off his game. Midmatch, Cesar took a mic and asked him what was wrong. Vernon said the world will know Turner’s secret if he doesn’t follow through, and Turner slammed Cesar Nelson down. Turner looked upset but the blackmail worked and Vernon pinned Cesar Nelson.

As the medics helped Cesar, we see the drama for our next match. SAW is offering a $20,000 bonus to the winner. Tommy Thunder wants to buy a new car, Whaler Winston wants a new boat. Former SCW standout says he’ll throw the biggest party ever, but Leon Baron says he’s going to buy the best training equipment possible. Parker then reveals to the audience that Leon Baron signed a developmental deal to wrestle in VCW and is leaving SAW, and doesn’t deserve the money. There’s a staredown between all four men until the scene faded to black, and they actually came out.

For the four way match, Tristan Parker looked much improved since I last saw him wrestle a few years ago, and heel work comes natural to him. Tommy Thunder had a decent high flying offense while Whaler Winston kept things grounded as a submission specialist. Despite being in his way out, the crowd was still behind Leon Baron and his feats of strength, but as is the case in wrestling, he ate the pin, and Tristan Parker emerged victorious.

I’m hoping for Parker’s big party, he invites me! Because I would bring my set of tools from Rainbow Tools! Because even when I’m at a SAW event I can take comfort in knowing Rainbow Tools has a brand of saws! Rainbow Tools, a full spectrum of tools for the job.

Well we finally reached the main event between Keira Ryan and Joslyn Sky. Joslyn looked more dominant in the match but the turning point happened when her agent came running out. He handed her a phone and Joslyn started screaming in excitement that a video had gone viral. While celebrating, Keira Ryan grabbed her for a roll up and pinned Sky, allowing Keira Ryan to be the new champion. Joslyn was ticked and tried to attack Keira, but she fought her off.

Keira Ryan got her celebration in, and the SAW audience was pleased. A fun show, but a bittersweet moment for me personally as I came to the end of my tour. However, that’s not the end of the podcast! Make sure to tune in next week as we get back to our normal schedule for Call It With Conroy! So long!

Hello wrestling fans! Welcome to Call It With Conroy, where I call the action in the ring! I’m Mickey Conroy get ready to see a show from SHOW, Sleeper Hold Organized Wrestling. I traveled to Ames, Iowa for this event, and if you don’t know where that is, no one else in the world does either. Some sort of winter festival was taking place this week, and SHOW was in town to give the town a taste of professional wrestling. For any first timers, SHOW may not be the best introduction but…well, let’s just get on with the show, shall we?

The first match on the card was an intergender match, with Foster and Molly McDonald, a brother and sister, taking on Jude Wells and Makayla Wren. SHOW has a bit of a carnie reputation, and I was a bit let down for this match, because it wasn’t carnie, it was some solid wrestling. By no means was this match of the year, but all four of these young wrestlers gave it their all, and the McDonald siblings eventually pulled out the victory. As a wrestling fan, I enjoyed it, but I noticed some in the crowd started to leave after this match.

Up next, we have a guy I knew from back when I covered SCW, Farmer Howard! His opponent was Hot Hank. Hot Hank was presented as this irresistible chick magnet but like…maybe he goes to the gym one day a week? Not knocking the guy but if you’re going with that gimmick, commit to it! Anyway, Farmer Howard, with his obvious southern accent, cut a promo before the match about how he was proud to be from Iowa and farm and represent the state. It got the crowd on his side, and he managed to actually draw some fans back in after hitting a superplex onto a bale of hay, and pinning Hot Hank. After his victory, Farmer Howard saw me in the crowd, and check out the clip from our interview!

Farmer Howard: Not only was this a great win, I can’t wait to get back home and use my Rainbow Tools. Rainbow Tools, all the tools for the job.

Mickey Conroy: It’s “A full spectrum of tools for the job.” Can you try it again?

Farmer Howard: Yeah. Rainbow Tools, a full spectrum of tools for the job!

So glad Farmer Howard uses them! But onto our main event, as the small crowd went crazy when Mimic came out, who was introduced as a legendary, main eventing professional wrestler known across the world. To his credit, Mimic did some baby face actions, signing autographs and giving high fives, but he still had a match against Captain Ricardo Dubloon, a pirate who seems to wrestle in a costume from your local halloween costume store.

It was honestly a very basic match, Ricardo Dubloon did eye gouges and feet on the ropes, and Mimic did a hyped up comeback to win. I wasn’t overtly impressed but I do respect Mimic putting the time in with the company, especially since Dubloon looks like a fresh kid out of wrestling school.

One more week left on my tour, and I get to leave Iowa to head to Los Angeles where I finish up with SAW! See you next week!
