The HAW Theme played to start the show.
Edward Findleton: Welcome everyone to HAW One Way Trip! We are in Philadelphia, PA tonight with a great show! I’m Edward Findleton, with THE Casey Gains and Eve Solace at commentary!
THE Casey Gains: A great main event, a No Disqualification match between Pastor James and Cole Arcane. There’s also Leon Baron vs Handsome Harvey Allison, The Biofuel engineers against The MuscleGang, and will Phoenix actually answer Fun Fight Machine’s challenge? A lot to see in the men’s division.
Eve Solace: The woman’s division is packing the same heat! Jessie Parran’s last match, it’s for the title against Sally Larkin! Dixie Boyle takes on Ivy Clarke, The Executioness Elena Dubois defends The National Championship against Makayla Wren, and our first match, The Dystopians defending their title against Summer Fun!
On cue, Summer Fun came out for their match, their positivity and carefree demeanor on full display. This was in contrast to the entrance of the Dystopians, who looked very serious and ready for action.
Summer Fun’s long time team work started off working in their favor, and as far as a traditional wrestling match goes, had the early advantage. Eventually, Dark Raven was able to build some momentum on Maple Blossom, and throwing off Summer Fun’s pace and control. Maple went to her corner and Raven went to hers, both teams regrouping. This proved fatal for Summer Fun, as this recovery allowed The Dystopians to change to their usual tactics.
Dark Raven tagged in Void-N but instead of leaving, the two immediately attacked Maple Blossom. The two then went right after Daisy Fields, pushing her off the apron and attacking her on the outside. Rolling back into the ring, they again attacked Maple before Dark Raven finally left, and Void-N hit a Corkscrew Neckbreaker in 7:59.
Edward Findleton: A successful title defense Dystopians.
THE Casey Gains: No one does those double team tactics better than the Dystopians.
Eve Solace: It really bends the rules, but I agree with Casey. The double team pack maneuvering has been their calling card, and it’s going to be tough to defeat that!
Backstage, Liam and St. Pierre were doing warm ups with Crash, as Scarred Badger napped on a chair, when the Strange Crew, Hawaii and Drizzles the Clown, approached them, with Drizzles pulling some large cart that had a black tarp draped over an object.
.
Hawaii: Fine evening gentlemen!
Lovable Liam: Yeah! We’re about to become tag team champions!
Hawaii: Excellent! That’s what we like to hear! And we want to help you!
Frederic St. Pierre: You do?
Hawaii: Of course! We saw what happened last week with the Biofuel Engineers and your voodoo dolls, so allow us to show you what we’ve invented! Drizzles….show them the guillotine!
Drizzles took the tarp off, and sure enough there was a guillotine, with a cheaply decorated dummy of Dalton Elkins placed in it, its head locked in just under the blade.
Hawaii: We heard that the Biofuel Engineers were interested in beheading the two of you! What we can do to guarantee you become tag champions, is actually bring this down to ringside, strap them in one at a time, and slice their heads off before they do it to you! Allow us to demonstrate! Drizzles!
Drizzles then let go of a rope, and the blade cut the dummy’s head off. Drizzles held the “head” up to the MuscleGang as a trophy, proud.
Crash MuscleGate: Oh wow. Ok…umm. Right. We really appreciate this…but see uhh…I…I went to Freezerman’s office already and took care of it! Yeah! I heard about the World title match’s no disqualification stipulation, so I asked if these guys can have a “No decapitations” match and he agreed! So, shucks, looks like we won’t be committing first degree murder on live television tonight. Darn.
Hawaii: Those higher ups always ruin things. Oh well. If you change your mind and are interested in a post-match attack, let us know. We also brought axes.
Lovable Liam: We certainly will! Let’s….get ready!
Liam, Crash, and St. Pierre quickly hurried away. Hawaii and Drizzles shrugged and tossed the head into the lap of Scarred Badger, causing him to wake up, scream in fear and fall out of his chair.
Back at ringside, Georgios Stanellis made his way down to the ring with Kitty Kayleen.
Edward Findleton: We got an extra match tonight for everyone, Georgios Stanellis vs Tyler Ford!
Ford followed next, but as he slid into the ring. Stanellis immediately started stomping him. Referee Tom Hunter was eventually able to get Stanellis off of Ford, and properly start the match.
Stanellis had an early advantage, but to his surprise, Ford started to gain momentum and lock in a series of holds. Kitty got on the apron attempting a distraction, but Ford wouldn’t fall for it. Stanellis was about to tap out when Kitty changed tactics and rushed in the ring to grab Stanellis hand and help drag him to the rope for a break.
Tyler Ford was upset, and Tom Hunter was admonishing Kitty, giving Stanellis a chance to hit Ford with a low blow. He rolled Ford up quickly and used the ropes as leverage to get the three count in 5:19.
Edward Findleton: And a bit of a sneaky win for Georgios Stanellis!
THE Casey Gains: Hey, a win is a win, and he’s on a two week streak. I applaud him for that. Georgios and Kitty are on a fresh start after finally putting the past of Mitchell Row behind them!
At that point the feed cut to a pre-taped video. A boat was on rough seas in a storm, a lone man in a yellow hooded raincoat and bushy beard working on the deck, then captaining it, then hauling in a catch. Finally the boat reached a dock, and an anchor was dropped. The man got off the boat and onto the dock. He took his hood off to naturally reveal Mitchell Row, and he started walking towards land as the video faded to black.
THE Casey Gains: Alright, I take the full blame for causing that. I’m sorry Georgios!
Edward Findleton: We have some more personal drama next, Dixie Boyle and Ivy Clarke is next!
Dixie Boyle and Ivy Clarke both made their entrances, and were completely solo tonight.
Eve Solace: No Pastor James tonight, and after Cole Arcane’s words to Ivy last week, she’s definitely going solo.
Dixie started the match strong, but Clarke was able to hit a few key reversals to turn the tide. Ivy repeatedly wore Dixie down, with a slow, cautious attack. It wasn’t until Ivy went for her Hammerlock Suplex that Dixie Boyle countered, breaking free and pushing Ivy into the ropes and hitting a dropkick.
Boyle started to pick up the pace and was relentlessly attacking Clarke. Boyle irish whipped Clarke into the ropes, but on the bounce back, Clarke fell to the ground and held her ankle.
Eve Solace: Ivy Clarke might have a sprain!
Referee Mira Levenberg checked on her, as Clarke grimaced in pain. Concerned, Dixie bent down to see if she was alright, and Clarke immediately responded with a thumb to the eye. Ivy jumped to her feet, grabbed Boyle and hit the Hammerlock Suplex, pinning Dixie in 8:37.
Edward Findleton: And we have another victory of the unethical kind, but as my colleague always says…she got the W.
THE Casey Gains: I’m glad I’m starting to rub off on you.
The ring was eventually cleared for the next match, and Fun Fight Machine made his way down to the ring, determined and angry.
Edward Findleton: Fun has called out his former partner Phoenix who turned his back on him! Will he show up and accept this challenge?
As Fun waited in the ring, a video started to play on the jumbotron. A foggy area with a bright red backlighting, the shadow of a man with the build of Phoenix standing in the red mist.
Phoenix: We had a good thing going. We had power together. We evolved for the better…until you stopped. You ended this early, not me. You refused to do what we did best. You gave up the power…but in return…I took what you gave up. I AM power.
In the arena, the lights dimmed until a red fog started on the top of the stage and new darkened orchestral music started. Phoenix finally emerged, now in a primarily black outfit with slight red accents.
Eve Solace: Can I say…Phoenix is reborn?
THE Casey Gains: Reborn in something much more sinister from the looks of it.
Fun Fight Machine and Phoenix had an intense stare down, and as the match began, both immediately started punching each other. Both men went all out, the pace was frantic, and both were constantly hitting some high flying moves. Phoenix had hit the Phoenix Splash but was shocked when Fun Fight Machine kicked out. Shortly after, Fun hit a 450 Splash but couldn’t put Phoenix away.
A frustrated Fun Fight Machine took Phoenix’s head and just repeatedly started to pound it into the mat, only stopping at referee Dennis Thompson physically restraining him. Fun Fight Machine then climbed the ropes again, and lined up Phoenix. This time he went for the Phoenix Splash, but Phoenix rolled out of the way. Phoenix managed to recover and hit a quick DDT before climbing, and now delivering Fun Fight Machine’s 450 Splash to him. Phoenix covered and picked up the win in 12:20.
A hurt but victorious got up, using the ropes for leverage, but paid no attention to his fallen opponent. Phoenix left the ring with fanfare, but with a wicked smile on his face, proud of his work.
Edward Findleton: A sad end tonight for these former tag champions who are now bitter enemies. But as this new Phoenix seems to leave tag teams behind, the new champs who defeated them, look to defend the titles tonight! It’s the MuscleGang vs the Biofuel Engineers next!
The MuscleGang, St. Pierre and Liam with Crash and Scarred Badger, came out in moods typical of each of their personalities, and waited until the champions, Dalton Elkins and Sydney Mason eventually walked to the ring.
THE Casey Gains: This will be a tough match for the MuscleGang. The Biofuel Engineers won their first title in 2017, and this is their third reign, tied for the most reigns in HAW history with the Strange Crew. These guys are good.
As promised, this was a very even tag match. There were points where each wrestler was in control, from Liam, to Fred, to Dalton, to Sydney, with nearfalls and team mates breaking up pins often.
It started to go the MuscleGang’s way, as Liam had Mason on his heels. Liam whipped Mason into the ropes then lowered his head, prepping for a back body drop. Dalton tagged Mason’s back, as Mason ran back to Liam and met the back body drop. Liam was unaware of the tag and got Mason in position for the Tiger Driver. Elkins ran to the ring and elbowed St. Pierre off just as Liam hit the Tiger Driver, but before he realized what was happening, Elkins hit Liam with his Suplex Powerslam. Dalton Elkins pinned Liam in 15:53.
Elkins grabbed Mason, took the titles and ran up the ramp, celebrating their win. Crash and Badger helped St. Pierre up, and the three went into the ring dejected as they got Liam to his feet. The MuscleGang looked emotionally defeated, and slowly went to the back with their heads down.
Backstage, Douglas Brunswick was walking and looking into the camera.
Douglas Brunswick: Last year, I fell just short of my goal. To successfully defend the HAW World Championship at every major PPV. I recognize I’m at the bottom of the ladder, but HAW fans….I am BACK, and I’m ready to make an impact.
At that point, Franco Mancini came from the background, catching up to him.
Franco Mancini: Yo! It sucks, don’t it? Getting so close to that? You did that to me, right? That’s right, you did. But uhh, hey, if you’re thinking of going back to top…just know that you got some other competition in your way. Mainly, me.
The two stopped in their tracks as Mayor Briggs jumped into the fray.
Mayor Briggs: Ahh, fellas! Talkin’ about becoming World Champion, eh? Look, we all go way back but the way Mayor Briggs sees it…you two blokes had your time. Maybe it’s time for me to get a chance! Maybe you two should just stay away, maybe form a tag team or somethin’, aight?
Franco and Brunswick both looked annoyed and rolled their eyes, walking off in separate directions as Briggs looked proud of himself and hopeful for his future.
Back at ringside, Makayla Wren made her entrance with her mother, Susan Wren.
Eve Solace: It’s time for the HAW Women’s National Championship match! And to be honest, I’m surprised Makayla is here tonight, but we should have a good match!
The Executioness Elena Dubois followed, looking ready and prepared. The match was just about to start when Makayla motioned for a microphone.
Makayla Wren: Elena…if you’re BRAVE enough, I have a challenge for you. Let’s make this…a 10 minute time limit match!
Dubois raised an eyebrow, unsure of Makayla’s end goal.
Makayla Wren: I have a…uhh, really important…class, yeah class, to get to! So if this can be over in ten minutes, that would be swell.
Elena thought for a moment and nodded, going along with this new stipulation.
THE Casey Gains: I’m fairly certain Wren does not go to college in Philadelphia.
Eve Solace: And…she needs to WIN the title. Not draw!
Edward Findleton: Her mother must be so proud.
The match started off, and Makayla was trying to frantically pin Elena Dubois with roll ups, but had no luck. The frantic pace had Dubois slightly off of our game, trying to keep up with Wren, until she hit a well timed spinning heel kick. Dubois started to take control but despite dominating, it was now her who was unable to successfully pin Wren.
The timer started to tick down to the final minute, and Dubois wanted the win, while it looked like Makayla was just trying to survive. The Executioness managed to make contact with her Running European Uppercut and it seemed to knock Makayla out cold. Dubois went for the cover but at the last moment, Susan Wren grabbed referee Heidi O’Neill’s leg and yanked her out of the ring.
O’Neill quickly tossed Susan, but Elena had gotten up and had a few choice words to Susan, shouting as Susan from inside the ring. With this going on, Makayla had gotten up and steadied herself in the corner. It looked like she was sizing Elena up and waiting for her to turn around, when the bell rang, and the jumbotron showed the timer at 0. Makayla then looked elated, and held her hands up in “victory” quickly running out of the ring and starting to make her way to the back.
Edward Findleton: I guess…she’s happy?
THE Casey Gains: Yeah, she gets to go to her night classes. Who wouldn’t be excited for that?
Makayla and Susan were just about at the entry way at the top of the ramp, when out from behind the curtain came The Marauder, Sophie Lester, who double clotheslined both Wren women. Lester picked up Makayla Wren and hit a Spinebuster right on the ramp, before making her way down to the ring. She got right up into the face of Dubois’, and a challenge could be heard.
Sophie Lester: You want a real title defense? You fight me next.
Lester then slapped Dubois across the face, turned around, and left.
Eve Solace: With no disrespect to Makayla Wren, I think The Executioness just found a much more serious opponent.
THE Casey Gains: Yeah, Sophie Lester is not going to be going to “classes” …although to be fair, I don’t think Wren will be going anywhere tonight except to medical.
Edward Findleton: Well, as we finish one National Title match, it’s time to get to our next one! Leon Baron, Harvey Allison, it’s next!
The music and pyro started for Leon Baron, and he walked out, pumped up, roaring, and full of energy as he got down to the ring and forcefully ran the ring ropes. The champion, Harvey Allison, followed next, with Strawberry Bates Hill behind him.
Referee Dillon Bartos called for the bell, and Harvey immediately rolled out of the ring and went to talk with Hill. The crowd booed as Harvey stayed out for a count of 9, rolled back in, then promptly out. Leon had enough and began to chase Allison outside the ring. As Baron ran past, Hill “accidentally” bumped a bottle of water, though it seemed to have the color and consistency of cooking oil, onto the mat. As Allison and Baron started to run by, Harvey lept over the puddle, while Baron accidentally stepped in it, lost his balance, and crashed right into the steel steps.
Allison wasted no time, and rolled Baron back into the ring. This break was all Harvey needed, as he proceeded to wear Leon Baron down with holds and quick stomps. Despite this, Harvey Allison seemed reluctant to go for his Sitout Jawbreaker, whenever he might get Baron in position, he would switch tactics and try a different move.
Eve Solace: I think Allison is expecting Baron to counter him, and is afraid to put him away.
THE Casey Gains: It could be a good strategy, but he needs to do something.
Allison still kept chipping away at Baron, but now started eyeing the ropes. Finally he got Baron into the corner and hoisted up, and looked to be going for a top rope superplex.
Edward Findleton: This could be what he’s looking for!
Allison tried lifting Baron up but failed, and Leon was able to hit a few quick jabs, causing Allison to bend over. In one smooth motion, Baron grabbed Allison and jumped, hitting a top rope Canadian Destroyer. Baron immediately went for the cover and picked up the win in 7:47.
Edward Findleton: It’s a one hit wonder! Leon Baron is the new National Champion, and all the offense he needed was…THAT!
THE Casey Gains: You just knew whatever was going to happen on that top rope was going to decide the outcome, a high risk area for both men.
Eve Solace: That’s the end of Harvey Allison’s 637 day title reign. A very impressive reign, but Leon Baron has shown he has the potential to pass it.
As Baron celebrated with the title, the camera cut to backstage with Gregory Greystone and Kyle Higgins.
Gregory Greystone: Hello ladies and gentlemen! I’m here with Kyle Higgins! Kyle, I was told you asked for some time to speak to the crowd. I know last week we were cut off, so you have all the time you need! What is it you need to share?
Kyle Higgins: I feel awkward about this, I feel bad about this. I was looking at the card, next match on it is Jessie Parran and Smiling Sally, Jessie Parran’s last match before her retirement. She’s a great young kid who has her whole future ahead of her. And then there’s me, a guy who got into the game late, but regardless of what happened, made it to HAW. Unfortunately, I had this realization that last week I didn’t lose to just Georgios Stanellis, I lost to the ticking clock of time. I don’t think I have it in me anymore, which is why…I’m announcing my retirement. So don’t worry about this old man, and I hope the fans can enjoy this next match.
With that, Kyle Higgins walked away. The camera followed him walk down a hallway, turning a corner and exiting.
Edward Findleton: Wow, another retirement!
THE Casey Gains: Looks like “The Rookie” Kyle Higgins is gone. Congratulations on a great career.
Eve Solace: And keeping it classy, as we flow right into our World title match!
The challenger Jessie Parran entered first, both taking it all in, and aware of the huge challenge that awaited her. Sally Larkin followed, as she seemed uncertain how to approach this match. As she got to the ring and handed the title to referee Brenda Moses, Sally extended her hand for a shake. Jessie didn’t hesitate to slap the hand away, and Larkin bit her lip, trying to hold back the anger.
As the match started, Sally Larkin seemed to take it easy on Jessie Parran, but Jessie started to get under Sally’s skin. Parran would pull hair when she could, or keep a hold on a bit too long, and Sally started to get angry. With her persona shifted, Sally started to be a lot more forceful with Jessie, but Jessie was weathering the storm, and able to get a few shots in every once and while.
Sally started to put Jessie into a sleeper hold, but Jessie was able to deliver some elbows to the midsection. Jessie repeated this and quickly escaped and turned into a neckbreaker. Jessie started to really focus on Sally’s head and neck as the focal point of her offense, and Sally started to look much weaker. She tried to fight back, but Parran caught her and lifted her up, right into the Suplex Piledriver.
Edward Findleton: There it is! The cover! And…
Sally Larkin kicked out at the last possible second. Jessie didn’t relent and kept the offense up, and Sally was completely on the defensive, trying to survive. Jessie had Larkin pinned in a corner and after a few kicks, spit in Larkin’s face. That seemed to awaken Sally, who pushed Jessie away, then ran at her, picking her up and driving her into the opposite corner of the ring.
Sally went on an all out offensive assault. Jessie tried once more to get into Suplex Piledriver position but Sally blocked it, and countered into the Tornado Bomb. Sally Larkin quickly went for the cover, and pinned Jessie Parran to retain the title in 13:19.
Edward Findleton: And Sally Larkin wins!
Eve Solace: And Jessie Parran is retired.
It took a while for both women to get their breath back, and Sally eventually held the title high. Jessie finally got up and was clearly disappointed in the outcome. Sally turned her attention to Jessie, and Jessie quickly embraced her in a long hug. The two women talked for a while before breaking it off, Sally holding Jessie’s hand high, and then handing her the title to raise up.
With that, Jessie and Sally exited the ring to end Jessie Parran’s career.
Edward Findleton: Well a beautiful moment to cap off the Women’s World Title match, but this next one…well, I doubt it’s going to be beautiful.
THE Casey Gains: This has been years in the making, and now the World Title is at the core of it. Pastor James defends against Cole Arcane. This is no disqualification, and falls can count anywhere.
Cole Arcane entered first, his typical hardened, stoic persona on display as he marched to the ring. Pastor James followed, but as he walked to the ring, he made sure to stop and pray with a few fans, then stopped at a fan who had his leg in a cast and was on crutches. He put his hand on the fan’s head and told him to let go of the crutches, and the fan did and was seemingly cured.
Edward Findleton: Pastor James performing a miracle on his way to the ring, but it will be a miracle if either of these two guys come away without serious injuries.
THE Casey Gains: Yeah, if he had the healing power of God, might have wanted to wait to use it on himself after the match. This is going to get violent.
Referee Dennis Thompson called for the bell, and both men slowly and methodically paced each other, until they locked up in the center of the ring.
For the first few minutes, the match resembled a traditional, albeit stiff, wrestling match. James and Cole went toe to toe in the ring, until Arcane tosses James over the ropes, and action spilled onto the floor, kicking things into a higher gear.
James managed to back body drop Arcane over the barricade and into the crowd, and the fight started to go through the arena, up the steps into the main concourse area. There were slams onto the concrete ground, heads bashed against support columns, but eventually the two ended up near a concession area.
There was a large ice cream stand, and James threw Arcane onto the counter, then climbed on top of him to deliver solid punches. James stood up and grabbed Arcane, and stood next to a glass display case of various ice cream flavors. James picked Arcane up and delivered a Cobra Clutch Slam onto the glass, shattering it and cutting Arcane’s back open.
THE Casey Gains: Broken glass AND bodily fluids, that ice cream stand is not Servsafe approved!
James tried to cover the Arcane, but he kicked out. Arcane was dripping blood everywhere as his back was gashed open, and they made their way back to one of the tunnels to the arena. Arcane started to fight back near the top of a staircase, grabbed James, then threw him down the arena stairs, tumbling down rows upon rows of stairs, only for James to stop when he collided with the standing and cheering fan he had healed. James hit the fan’s leg, who fell to the ground crying in pain again.
Edward Findleton: Well he was happy for a few minutes as he screams in- wait, I’m being told to say by legal that this fan is still happy as he is screaming for his favorite wrestler while cheering on an exciting match!
Cole started to make his way down the steps, but as he got to James, James grabbed the fans crutch and hit Arcane in the head, stunning him.
Both men were in pain, and started to leave the crowd, but got to the stage area. Arcane set a table up at the top of the stage and tried to slam James through it, but James countered. He went for the Cobra Clutch Slam again but Arcane fought out and managed to counter into a side slam.
At that point, Arcane got up and started to climb the scaffolding near the jumbotron. James was able to quickly follow, and both men ended up on the lower part of the jumbotron, standing precariously over the stage. They exchanged blows in front of the screen, but Arcane started to get a rally and hit multiple punches in a row. Seizing the moment he grabbed Pastor James, then hit the Running Bulldog, leaping off the bottom of the jumbotron onto the table below, James going headfirst into everything.
Both men were in so much pain, Arcane writhing on the ground, while James looked out cold. Cole Arcane crawled over the wooden splinters and put an arm over Pastor James. Dennis Thompson got down and counted one, two, three.
Edward Findleton: He does it! He’s done it! Cole Arcane is the new champion!
THE Casey Gains: Absolutely grueling, painful match. Arcane definitely deserved that.
Eve Solace: Pastor James with a big effort tonight, but I don’t think anyone is going to get up from having their head driven through wood and steel from 20 feet in the air.
Cole Arcane was able to sit up and finally hold the HAW World Championship in his arms. Too tired and hurt to raise it, he simply cradled it and stared at it for a few moments. His goal was accomplished, but Arcane decided to take it all in, away from the fans. He stood up and limped backstage, clutching the title the entire time.
Edward Findleton: And that concludes HAW One Way Trip! We’ll see you next week as we prepare for Downtown Disaster! So long everyone, and goodnight!
