HAW Throwdown began with Freezerman standing in the ring.
Freezerman: Good evening HAW fans, around the world and here in Minneapolis! It’s great to be back, healthy and ready to go! I don’t want to take too much time tonight, but there’s a few announcements! First, The Firing Squad, Phoenix and Fun Fight Machine will be defending their titles at Summit of Success! But against who? That will be decided in a tag team tournament! Tonight we will see Lovable Liam and Frederic St. Pierre of the MuscleGang take on El Espectro and El Termitas II, and Night Prince and Ninja, Club Corruption, taking on Team Sentinel, Billy Taylor and Wesley Wagner! And Next week, it’s The Biofuel Engineers against Jack Trailor and Local Legend Danny Miller, and Bu and Green versus The Shadow Hand, Jet Black and Demon Lord Lenin May! A lot of great tag action coming up, but also…tonight we will find out the first participant for End of the Trail’s main event, the Destroy All Wrestlers match! Every week, I will reveal a competitor. So, tonight-
Freezerman was cut off by the music of Mayor Briggs. He came down with his City Council, Bigg Pimpin’ Alex and The United States.
Mayor Briggs: Mr. Freezerman, I know you’re a busy fellow, so we’re not up for wasting your time. See, last May, I had myself a monumental career win, defeating the HAW National Champion, Harvey Allison!
Freezerman: Via countout.
Mayor Briggs: It is still a victory! And with that, I think it’s only fair I get a title match! Right? Mayor Briggs vs Harvey Allison!
Freezerman: You know Briggs, I saw that match, and I’m inclined to…”mostly” agree with you. I don’t see a title match against Harvey Allison in your future. I’m looking for drama, intrigue, storylines, and skill! These are all traits you have, and I’m looking for those traits Destroy All Wrestlers!
Briggs was now smiling and high fiving Alex and United States.
Mayor Briggs: But I’m not going to just GIVE you a spot in that match. You need to earn that spot. If you want to walk out of End of the Trail with the HAW World Championship and the million dollar cash prize for winning that match…then you need to earn your spot, tonight….by becoming HAW World Champion! Our main event for the evening is Mayor Briggs vs Douglas Brunswick, with the winner being the first participant to qualify!
The crowd cheered, and Briggs was besides himself in joy. He shook Freezerman’s hand, thanking him profusely, already heading to the back and strategizing with his allies.
Edward Findleton: Wow! Welcome to HAW Throwdown, and what an announcement to kick the show off!
THE Casey Gains: I’ll say! Brunswick vs Briggs for the title tonight! Look, winning the title is huge, that WILL make your career. But every man I’ve spoken to in the locker room tonight has been excited about the money that comes with winning the End of the Trail’s main event. They want that one in eight shot at glory, and money, and Briggs has a huge career opportunity tonight!
Edward Findleton: Well before we get to that, we have some tag team action! Let’s take a look at our bracket!
A1 Lovable Liam/Frederic St. Pierre vs El Espectro/El Termitas II
A2 RJ Bu/Niko Green vs Demon Lord Lenin May/Jet Black
B1 Wesley Wagner/Billy Taylor vs Night Prince/Ninja
B2 Jack Trailor/Local Legend Danny Miller vs Sydney Mason/Dalton Elkins
A1 vs A2
B1 vs B2
A vs B
Tournament Winner vs Phoenix/Fun Fight Machine
Edward Findleton: A lot of teams are looking to get through this gauntlet, and it begins now!
The Musclegang, Lovable Liam and Frederic St. Pierre came out accompanied by Scarred Badger and Crash MuscleGate, Crash enthusiastically cheering the team on. Their opponents, El Termitas II and El Espectro came out.
As the match started, both tag teams came off well. The experience of the MuscleGang came into play, but the recent confidence boost of Espectro and Termitas, as well as their dishonorable tactics, made the VCW champions formidable opponents. However, St. Pierre was able to tag in Liam, who managed to hit a Tiger Driver to El Espectro, and then El Termitas, and pinned Termitas.
As the MuscleGang celebrated, they started to head to the back, when Team Sentinel’s music started up. Billy Taylor and Wesley Wagner, accompanied by Sentinel, started to make their way down to the ring. They ran into the MuscleGang along the way, and there was a brief moment of distrust, before Liam and St. Pierre extended their hands for a shake. The veterans seemed to wish Team Sentinel luck, and continued to the back.
Edward Findleton: Team Sentinel has been wrestling under the tutelage of Sentinel himself for a while now, but they haven’t seen much main roster action.
THE Casey Gains: This is a really big match for them. Yeah, they want to move on and win the championship, but they also need to prove they belong in HAW.
Their opponents, Club Corruption followed, as Night Prince and Ninja made their way to the ring taunting Team Sentinel.
As the match began, Night Prince pointed and laughed at Sentinel outside the ring, making fun of how “old” he was and pretending to have trouble walking and grabbing his back. As he turned around, Billy Taylor blasted him with a solid punch. Wesley Wagner then ran across the ring and hit Ninja. Taylor then locked in a Texas Cloverleaf, and Wagner hit a Baseball slide into Night Prince’s head. Night Prince seemed knocked out, and referee Dillon Bartos called for the bell, awarding the victory to Team Sentinel.
Edward Findleton: Well that’s a solid first win by Team Sentinel!
THE Casey Gains: They definitely sent a message with that win: Don’t underestimate them!
Meanwhile, Handsome Harvey Allison was backstage, walking around with a phone in one hand and holding his National Championship in the other.
Harvey Allison: So yeah Hill, I need to give Freezerman some input on my opponent this month. Don’t you think it’s ridiculous I even have to defend this while knowing Franco Mancini ALSO gets a shot at End of the Trail? No, I won’t defend against you, you’re…not ready, yeah. So quit asking! And….actually, let me call you back.
Up ahead, the Samurais of Power seemed to be sparring on a gym mat, taking turns and congratulating each “winner.” Harvey approached them, smiling.
Harvey Allison: Hello good friends. It is such an honor to meet you. You have shown stupendous ability to fall on a mat. It is such an honor to watch that. With this honor, I would like to offer one of you losers a miniscule chance at this title. How about Master Sensei over here?
Onaga looked Allison in the eye, then kicked the title out of his hand. Onaga caught it in mid air and looked at it.
Onaga: I accept. But one more thing…the next time I touch this title, it will be when I’m awarded it as champion.
Onaga held the title for a brief moment, then handed it to Allison. Allison looked annoyed as he grabbed it, then did a mock “bow” and stormed off.
Edward Findleton: Well it looks like we might have ourselves a match for Summit of Success! Harvey Allison and Sensei Onaga?
THE Casey Gains: Not what I predicted but Harvey does have to remember…the Samurais do have the numbers.
Edward Findleton: And as he said, whoever wins has Franco Mancini waiting at End of the Trail…and speaking of End of the Trail, our next match will decide just who goes to the main event of End of the Trail. The first participant…in Destroy All Wrestlers, and the man who enters as HAW World Champion.
Mayor Briggs came down to the ring first, relaxed and with Bigg Pimpin’ Alex and The United States by his side. The crowd then erupted as the HAW World Champion, Douglas Brunswick walked down.
Edward Findleton: Douglas Brunswick wants to have four successful title defenses this year, to be the first man to complete that task. In his way though right now, Mayor Briggs.
THE Casey Gains: These two have had a long history together…friends, enemies…and both are very capable wrestlers.
The match had Briggs trying his hardest, but didn’t seem to be able to put Douglas Brunswick away. Brunswick followed up with some near falls, but also couldn’t seal the deal. The United States tried to distract referee Dennis Thompson, as Bigg Pimpin’ Alex tossed in a chair, but Thompson caught Alex sliding the chair into the ring.
Thompson started to demand Alex go to the back, but instead the United States hit Thompson with a bulldog. Briggs, Alex, and United States all high fived, then turned around. Douglas Brunswick was up and holding the chair. Briggs started to back away, his hands up, pleading, then pushed his City Council members towards Brunswick, who blasted both with the chair.
Briggs tried to run but Douglas grabbed him then threw the chair down and hit the Lifting Reverse DDT. Brunswick covered as an injured Thompson groggily made his way over, and made a slow three count.
Edward Findleton: And he does it! Douglas Brunswick is the first man in Destroy All Wrestlers, and he enters as the champion!
THE Casey Gains: No championship advantage in this match, but if there’s a guy who can get it done, it’ll be Douglas Brunswick.
Edward Findleton: That’s it for tonight folks. Next week we’ll have more tag team action and another competitor announcer for Destroy All Wrestlers. For THE Casey Gains, I’m Edward Findleton. Good night!
